BEACHES OF THE DOMICAN REPUBLIC

For those interested in beaches, the Dominican Republic is one of the prime destinations in the Caribbean. This tropical island has long stretches of pristine white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and beautiful resort areas. Not only can you relax on the beach sipping a cold drink, the beach areas offer abundant water sports and eco-tours.

Below are descriptions of some of the more popular beach destinations in the Dominican Republic.

Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata is one of the prime beach destinations in the Dominican Republic. The town itself is small but has a nice colonial feel to it. The main draw of this area is the stunning beach area. The sands are bright white and the waters are turquoise blue. Just offshore are corral reefs teeming with lives which make them perfect for diving and snorkeling. In terms of accommodations

Puerto Plata has a range of hotels ranging from very high end to budget.
The town of Puerto Plata is small but does offer some colonial charm. Its main feature is the central park and the Malecón where locals gather and many weekends you can listen to an outdoor concert. If you have time take a trip to the top of Isabel de Torres and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding area. Other sites of interest in town include the Amber Museum and the old fort called San Felipe.

Sosúa

As you travel east from Puerto Plata you come across a small town called Sosúa. The reason people come to Sosúa is to enjoy the beach, which locals claim is the nicest in the Dominican Republic. Besides just relaxing on the beach one can also snorkel, water ski, or go wind surfing.

This a great place to invest!!

Cabarete

The northern region of the Dominican Republic has great beaches and a steady wind. This means that many places along the northern coastline of the Dominican Republic are ideal for windsurfing. One of the best places to go windsurfing has to be Cabarete. Cabarete is just 25 minutes from Puerto Plata, so getting there is no problem. The beach itself is about 2 miles long and just offshore lays some beautiful corral reefs.

Samaná

Another extremely popular beach destination is the Samaná region of the Dominican Republic. The area is famous for long stretches of white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. Throughout the region are numerous small towns and little villages. Getting to Samaná is relatively easy; the trip from Puerto Plata is only 3 hour.

Punta Cana

Punta Cana is probably the prime beach destination in the Dominican Republic. This area has great beaches, and as such is home to some of the nicest resorts on the island. In the resorts and the surrounding areas are numerous bars, restaurants, night clubs, shops and more. That means you can spend the day in the sun and dance the night away if you like.

Barahona

The area has been called by many the "Pearl of the South". This region is home to the following beaches, Los Patos, Paraiso, Bahoruco, and Saladilla. These beaches are beautiful and the water is even nicer. What makes this region special is the fact that the area is still relatively undeveloped. It is great for those people who want a beach experience, but not necessarily the "resort" experience.

Santo Domingo & The Surrounding Area

You don't have to travel far from Santo Domingo to get to the beach. Two of the more popular nearby beaches are Juan Dolio and Boca Chica.

Boca Chica is surrounded by a corral reef that has created a calm area of water that is exceedingly shallow. Due to this, it is very popular with families due to the safety of the water.
Further out from Santo Domingo is Juan Dolio. Just 50 minutes from the city, the beach is a great destination. Many come to just soak up the sun. However the beach offers a variety of water activities including sailing, diving and snorkeling, windsurfing and more!

Institution took commitment to sustainable tourism in the Dominican Republic

A total of 141 representatives of the tourism clusters across the country, as well as government officials and the private sector pledged to develop a work plan that will be used by the Dominican Republic boost sustainable tourism.

The public and private entities that participated in the meeting agreed to establish a plan for 100 days and one more extensive in 1000, as a way to draw concrete actions that will enable the country as part of nations that protect their natural resources as well as develop the tourism industry, reported a press release from the National Council of Competitiveness.

The information provided from Lissette Gil, project coordinator of Alianza Dominicana for Sustainable Tourism (DSTA), which runs the funds from the United States Agency for Development and the local counterpart.

"The working agenda that we set includes an insert it into a series of pillars at the same time constitute the basic lines of action to promote sustainable tourism. These are the pillars investment, education, political and legal framework, strategy and products national tourism sector plan and sustainability, "said Gil. The National Competitiveness Council will assume this role on the understanding that the national tourism industry has a great future if it ensures its sustainability and diversification as a way to respond to international trends of a travel industry more friendly to the environment and society.

The meeting was attended by the cluster of Samana, Puerto Plata, La Altagracia, La Romana, Bayahibe, Santo Domingo, Pedernales, Barahona, Constanza, Jarabacoa, as well as emerging tourism initiatives and private sector representatives of these provinces.

The State was represented by the Ministry of Tourism, with the participation of three assistant secretaries of the portfolio, as well as by the National Council of Competitiveness. As part of his lecture, the Italian economist Irene Mia of the World Economic Forum revealed that the Dominican Republic ranks first in the world in the amount of resources that the government invests into the tourism sector. The expert noted that according to international competitiveness index Travel Forum of the Dominican government "uses more than 20 percent of government spending on everything that has to do with tourism, which puts the nation over its competitors in the region."

Marion Rodgers, National Geographic, spoke about the concept and a principle of tourism, for which, according to the expert, it is vital that involved the community, and it is the main beneficiary of tourism. Therefore, people will be more proud of where they live and take better care of the place. Some of the principles recommended by Rodgers are to make tourists go to the place where the community is manifested as this adds value to the stories that saves the traveler.

Cesar Castaneda said that although the Dominican Republic takes no agenda to implement the system for measuring destination developed by the institution he represents, aspires to a destination so important in the Caribbean, take the measurement system for excellence, to be an example for other destinations in the world.

The country economist Miguel Ceara Hatton calls for reflection on what action to be taken immediately for the environment because with drought, deforestation, damage to beaches, the future of tourism is not promising.

With the understanding that "not everything growth generates welfare", Ceara Hatton reveals that in the present we are eating natural capital of the Dominican Republic, its heritage and its ecological footprint. For him, it was not enough to grow, it can grow and increase revenues, foreign exchange, tourism and flow of rooms, but all this can happen without impoverishing the population, destroy and degrade the ecological capital. The cave of wonders, great natural treasure of the Dominican Republic

The Cave of Wonders was discovered in 1926 thanks to a few explorers. Unfortunately, for 10 years, was the victim of grievances, especially to extract the appreciated “murcielaguina” (bat droppings).

The road that connects the provinces San Pedro de Macoris and La Romana there is the location of the natural Cave of Wonders. This is a renowned attraction in the country, thanks to their beauty and ease to access.

Going into this cave is like being transported to an underground world where you can acquire an idea of the lifestyle of our aboriginal, which used as a refuge and place of worship. Speaking in scientific terms, this cave is the result of what the tectonic activity and groundwater is capable of achieving.

His background lies in the Final Pleistocene period, approximately one million years ago. A few years ago, part of the cave was entitled to visits since then offered guided tours. The underground cavity is opened in the Southeastern Coastal Plain; along with several hundred large and small caves what makes it special is that The Wonders is the only place whose cave paintings and engravings are associated with the mortuary rituals of the Taínos.

"Its significance is being devoted to the dead and their deities related to the Taino mythology, as Maquetauríe Guava, god of the dead."

Data provided by the more accurate the State Secretariat for the Environment, stating that the cave holds 472 pictographs (paintings on the walls) and 19 petroglyphs (engraved on rocks). According to the source, these art exhibitions are between 800 and 500 years old.

"A cave with human remains, with petroglyphs, pictographs, with cultural samples should be preserved under the direction of a program that was based on its total preservation."

"It serves as the best school to teach prehistory, geology, hydrology, paleontology, and crystallography." These geological formations are an excellent refuge for hurricanes. "With the same purpose were used by our aborigines."

The total length of the Cave of Wonders is about 800 meters, of which 240 are allotted for visits, 30 percent. The remaining 70 percent, nearly 600 meters, is closed, and just entering animal species. The space retrofit of the cave entrance has a very well conditioned, elevator and ramps, making it the first and so far only cave in the country accessible for the disabled.

To enter this underground cavity is necessary to descend 25 meters below ground. The interior of the same is spacious; moist with a nice temperature stays at 19 degrees all year, thanks to its natural entrances. Guided tours in English and French. Parking space, for a capacity of 50 vehicles and 18 buses.

As for alternative routes to reach has a heliport and an airfield. In the case of earthquakes, one can get an idea of their ability to resist, if one takes into account the caves that require millions of years to form and at that time, must have occurred millions of earthquakes.

IT'S GOOD TO KNOW IF YOU WANT A HOUSE OR AN APARTMENT

When deciding what kind of housing is right for you, not only has to think about the present moment, but must think about the future. Does your family will be growing? Will need an office at home? Will it be able to cope with the maintenance? You do not want to buy a home and then find three years later that the family has grown too much to live in it.

Buy a house; if you like privacy and independence, buying a house for one family may own selection for you. Decide whether you want a new house, a house that had a previous owner or a need to fix. If you buy a house that had just been built, be sure to determine the cost of improvements and landscaping, which generally are not included in the base price. It might be better to buy a house that had a previous owner and is in good conditions. Their housing will increase rapidly in value while working on it, while willing to spend the time and money it takes to do the job properly.

Condos

A condominium is a cross between an apartment and a house. Still owns the building and property, but pays maintenance fees each month, which are used to cut the grass, cut the trees, paint the shutters and others. You still are responsible for internal repairs and maintenance.

Be sure to read the agreement of owners before deciding to buy a condominium. They dictate what is allowed and not allowed on the property and may include anything from how many vehicles and what kinds of vehicles can be parked in its path of entry, to how many pets may have.

The disadvantages of a small house are obvious: there is not enough space. But there are also disadvantages with respect to a big house. The maintenance of a large house is considerably more work.

Do you have children? If so, carefully investigate the school system which will be attending. Look at what learning opportunities are available. Although not have children or attend a private school, the quality of schools in their community will have an impact on the re-sale value of their homes.

Do you like high-energy environments or peace and quiet? When some people are going to the house, they want to leave the world behind and relax in the peace and tranquility of his personal retreat. Others would die of boredom in this environment and need more interaction and energy. Imagine the perfect neighborhood.

Ask yourself, what is it that makes it perfect? Then look for this neighborhood. When shopping for houses, try to get a sense of the neighborhood to see if it is right for you. Talk to the neighbors and ask them how it is. Be meddling.

After all, maybe live there for a long time. The decision to buy a house or apartment is one of the most important to take in your life, because it is the choice of a place to live; and here at Vico Real Estate we can help.

The flat roof is much more than a roof

It is not uncommon to see, these days, dwellings or buildings whose construction takes into account the new uses of the roofs, because they include gazebos in concrete and roof tiles. And though the apartment buildings, the roof is considered common space, in other cases, the family that inhabits the top floor.

Because it is a place of stories, meetings and inspiration to many who feel there is contact with the air, closer to the sky, the sun and the stars, this habitat can become a very personal atmosphere. The roof can be set with different styles, depending on the preference of the people who will use this space from the dwelling or apartment.

Whether the election will tilt toward the romantic style, modern or minimalist to enable this space properly take account of factors such as the sun, wind, rain and cold weather or overheating. If your home does not have a yard or garden where you can spend a pleasant free time, look uphill and perhaps find the solution to this dilemma: the roof. Traditionally relegated to use as tender clothes, put water tanks, antennas, parables or solar panels, the roof of the house takes on a new dimension in both houses and apartments.

More and more people dare to enable it to share with friends and family, creating terraces, rest, basking prepare delicious BBQ’s, placing inflatable pools to beat the heat and when space and conditions permit it, play sports with low risk . The roof is used as a place to be for people who live in apartment buildings or houses lacking yard, but they understand the importance of exterior spaces.

Not only families to take advantage of available space on rooftops, also used for businesses and institutions employed for parking, helipad, restaurants, and recently in some countries, the practice extends to locate there beautiful gardens to rest and recharge energy.

A beautiful and romantic view, especially at night, is an added benefit that few businesses with adequate opportunities would cease to exploit. Whatever the use of this space, one of the first aspects that tenants must take into account is the safety. To ensure the physical integrity of people using the roof, it should be surrounded by a fence, preferably in cement, iron, or a combination of both and whose height is above the waist of a person of average height.

It's good to create an atmosphere of being with wood or wicker furniture, weather resistant fabrics and colors welcome to the outside, such as white. And why not, you might opt for a small dining room to share breakfast and / or dinner.

Plants complete a friendly atmosphere and especially on the roof because the added element of life to decorating. "The gardens and plants can help us with the atmosphere, creating a sense of freshness and greenness, like protect us from the sun and wind.

The quality influences the cost. Not so much the size of the painting. Mainly, the price of the painting depends on the master. The Dominican Republic and political polling

Apart from a survey on attitudes and fears of the Dominican people that sponsored the Central Intelligence Agency in 1962 when the newspaper.

The News retained the services of the Centre for Research and Social Marketing (CIMERS), which was led by Luis Augusto Caminero son, to measure the preferences of voters in the capital city in a process in which disputed presidential Silvestre Antonio Guzman Fernandez, Joaquin Balaguer, Francisco Augusto Lora, Jaime Manuel Fernandez, Pedro Delmonte Urraca and Luis Lajara Homero Burgos.

In mid-1965, the CIA organized another inquiry to find out who Dominicans vote in September of that year. When the Evening News entrusted his CIMERS survey, in 1974, published an editorial in which it stated that offered such service to its readers "for the first time in the Dominican Republic." When asked "Which of the candidates you like the most for the presidency?" People from Santo Domingo responded: 44.01 percent in favor of Guzman; 33.9 percent Balaguer; 8.11 percent by Lora; 0.64 by Jaime Manuel Fernandez; 0.42% by Delmonte Urraca and Lajara Burgos. The abstention would be minimal.

He said that public opinion polls were saying nonsense, trying to subtract validity to the revelation and said that one company offered a survey with results in his favor of 25 thousand pesos. So far, other media firms have hired pollsters on the eve of elections: The National Today, El Siglo, Listín Diario, Journal Now, Rumbo, Ultima Hora, the Caribbean, among others, have had to Violeta Yangüela and Associates, Stanford Klappers Associates, of Puerto Rico; The Gallup Organization, Princeton, New Jersey (El Siglo); Roper Starch Worldwide; Thesis Consultant; Mercadesa, Rafael Acevedo Perez, Penn & Schoen, represented in the country by Bernardo Vega; Sigma-2 Hamilton & Staff ...

Each result triggers joy, frustration, stimulation candidates and voters. In newspapers the directors of polls by the reactions of discontent and disgust of leaders at a disadvantage, as was the case with Juan Bosch and the newspaper TODAY in 1986.

This is the first delivery of a series of works with which Angela Pena continues step by step, the presence of political polls in the country, marked with a start in 1962 when the CIA used students from the rebel UASD to probe the public. Those who carried out the field who never imagined paid.

Sosua and Cabarete, perfect combination of welfare

Sosua is a small tourist town, known for its beautiful beaches and aquatic sports facilities, which can be enjoyed throughout the year due to temperatures of 32 ° C (90 ° F) in summer and 27 ° C (80 ° F) in winter.

The main beach of Sosúa is one of the best beaches in the Dominican Republic: one kilometer of soft golden sand, dotted with palm trees and flamboyant trees. It is located in a cove sheltered by cliffs reefs and crystal clear water is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and diving.

At one end of the beach is El Batey, an area with residential streets, gardens, restaurants, shops and hotels. Many names and houses attest to the Jewish history of the city, which came in thirties and forties, to build a new life. At the other end of Sosua Beach is located Los Charamicos, formerly a fishing village, but it has become in recent years in a residential area and business for Dominicans who have moved to the area to seek work in or near Sosua.

The atmosphere is typically Dominican: Here you will find shacks with zinc roofs, posts plants, small shops crowded, and music everywhere, the typical Dominican life. In a few places, called canteens, serves excellent fish dishes.

Only 15 minutes east of Sosua is Cabarete, a paradise for surfers, one of the best places to go windsurfing and kite surfing in the world. Cabarete has been host to the World Championships of the Kite Boarding PKRA since 2001.

Everything revolves around the six miles of Playa Cabarete. Here you will find a youth international environment that enjoys relaxing in the sun as well as enjoying playing beach volleyball or celebrating together at night in bars on the beach.

In the Dominican Rebublic we have a Competitive and Sustainable Tourism.

Tourism in our country is one of the inherent parts of the economy, which most currencies contributing to the national treasury. The president of the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants (Asonahores) insisted that the Government create the conditions for the industry will continue and be competitive, including real exchange rate, and argues that the overvaluation of the currency and taxes are a threat to the competitiveness of the industry "no fireplace."

Luis Lopez stated that the Dominican hoteliers aspire to establish a fiscal pact with the Government with a horizon to the year 2020, which should embody the recognition of tourism as an export activity. The leader hotelier stressed the impetus to tourism areas from the Dominican government and the Ministry of Tourism and highlighted the coincidence between the private and public sectors, in the spirit and letter of the National Plan for Systemic Competitiveness.

He explained that tourists travelling to the Dominican Republic are beginning to pay taxes since it is mounted on the aircraft until they return to their country of origin. He cited that in 2006, the sector contributed more than RD$25 billion, a figure considered incomplete because many aspects are almost impossible to quantify. "To get an idea of how the tax burden has increased, in the year two thousand and four, the Government received 119 dollars per tourist, in two thousand five that rose to 159 dollars, for an increase of thirty-four percent, and last year reached 191 dollars, for an increase of twenty percent. For the current year as we move from two hundred dollars per tourist, "he elaborated.

For example, the value-added tax or ITBIS, is a tribute created for taxing domestic consumption, but when they applied to foreign visitors, it becomes a tax on exports. He commented that in Dominican Republic exports of goods are tax-free and that the citizens of other countries are not required to pay a tax that sets the Dominican Republic. While Haydée Kuert of Rainieri said that the Dominican tourism industry has comparative advantages that should translate into a competitive advantage. (For more information click hier!!)
