Dominican Woman go beyond their beauty.

Long days of sacrifice and selflessness characterize the lives of Dominicans. To achieve the place that she occupies, they had climbed by a mountain of controversial political transformations, economic deprivation and constant devaluation of their power.

The Dominican population grew demographically; of the eight million people in the country, 52 percent are women, according to the latest population census of 1993. There is a high interest on the part of Dominican women, especially in the past decade, goes beyond the borders of home and the traditional to become a productive entity. Historically, the pace of development of

Dominican women was attached to the swings in regard to the implementation of laws that protect and claimed its kind, took place on a global scale. The achievements social, intellectual, cultural and political achieved by the Dominicans with their struggles, often defined by the opposite gender as irrational, have fallen like drops of honey in a field traditionally brackish.

Generation after generation, the Dominican received from their mothers customs that a good housewife should possess, and knowing that hosts the submission, as the perfect path toward spiritual redemption, limited by the canons Catholics harvested in the country since the colonization.

This is one of the reasons why the Dominican Republic wins in almost all beauty contests, and always accompanied by great charm and intelligence. The Dominican Republic already has a beauty representing the county, this is Karla Cabral, 16 years old, an enviable stature and the most beautiful blue eyes. The selection was made during a hearing in which more than 50 young people from ages between 16 and 24, among which was highlighted by his charm and intelligence.

These attributes made it worthy of the crown of Miss Dominican Beauty 2008, contest created by Nolasco to give opportunity to younger folk who live abroad and which makes it impossible for them to compete in local competitions.

From a reef on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, an American company will try to salvage a treasure valued in US$150 million.

An American company will seek to recover a treasure valued at
US$150 million (over 97.2 million euros) from the depths of a reef on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, from a seventeenth-century Spanish galleon.

The treasure includes hundreds of silver and gold coins, and china ceramics; according to the company Marine Explorations Inc. who finances the submarine expedition that will start this week from Miami (Florida) heading to the Caribbean reef. Efe Paul Enright, one of the owners of signature "Treasurer", stressed the importance of having an "exclusive license" of the Dominican Government to make a "search and recovery" of the million treasure.

"Ornamental objects, coins, gold chains and Chinese pottery belonging to the Ming dynasty which we hope to recover," said Enright, part of the treasure of the Spanish galleon “Nuestra Señora de la Concepción”, which sank because of a hurricane in 1641, after a stop in Havana (Cuba) headed to Spain. Leading the expedition precisely Burt Webber Jr., the famous adventurer and "treasurer" American who, after years of research in archives, finally found in 1978 on the north coast of the Dominican Republic the wreck of the Spanish galleon coveted.

The concession granted by the Government of the Dominican Republic to the underwater exploration company, with headquarters in Denver (Colorado), will explore the Silver reef bank. With a cost exceeding two million dollars (1.3 million euros), the mission of the submarine boat Ocean Lady, by Captain Webber, remains almost five months in Dominican waters, about 100 kilometers north of Puerto Plata, to the pursuit of the rich archeological submarine site.

He explained that the 180 survivors of the wreck of the Spanish galleon, a crew of 540, were intercepted by British pirates to those who had no choice but to reveal where they had hidden much of the treasure: at the top of a reef on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. "There are many, many wrecks rich in the Spanish coast and the Spanish government has no rescue mission" in any area.

In Sosua was celebrated with enthusiasm On International Women's Day

In all parts of the world marks the International Day of Women, but many do not know what happened in reality that day to be commemorated as the International Women's Day, then a brief history of how and why this day is commemorated as International Women's Day.

On March 8 there are several versions. The best known is that of a fire in a textile factory in New York in 1857, where he allegedly burned the dead worker making a strike. According to the Canadian historian Renée Côté, there is no documentary evidence that a fire of this nature occurred that year, or that fact was the reason for establishing an international day of women. Investigations by feminists point out that what happened in 1857 was, in fact, conducting a march convened in March by the union as seamstresses of the textile company Lower East Side of New York, claiming a day working only 10 hours.

Ten years later, in 1867, also in March, there was a strike of the city of Troy, New York, who formed a union and called for an increase in wages. After three months of unemployment, the strikers were forced to return to work without having achieved their demand. The story of March 8 is crossed by situations and facts that show a scenario more complex and rich in events marked by the First World War, the Russian Revolution, the struggle for women's suffrage, the struggles between socialists and suffragists, and the growing female boom during the first decades of the twentieth century in Europe, the United States and Latin America.

The origins of International Women's Day are linked to the socialist parties of the United States and Europe, in particular the role of women in the American Socialist Party which, since 1908, introduced a few days of reflection and action called Woman's Day. The first took place on May 3, 1908, at the Garrick Theatre in Chicago, with the central objective of the campaign for suffrage and against sexual slavery. Thus, the International Women's Day surge for propaganda in favor of female suffrage, to defend labor rights of female workers and to demonstrate against the war.
