The month of February culminates with great success, finishes with a traditional military parade.

With great assistance has been conducted the military parade celebrating the 164 anniversary of the National Independence, which was held on the “Malecón” in the capital.

President Leonel Fernandez and his wife, the first lady, Margarita Cedeño Fernandez, arrived at the ceremony at 5:15 in the afternoon, beginning the event. The event was attended by the Vice President of the Republic, Rafael Albuquerque and his wife, Martha de Albuquerque and the secretaries of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ramon Aquino Garcia, Interior and Police Franklin Almeyda, Education, Alejandrina German, among other civilian and military.

The parade marched members of the different military bodies of the Armed Forces and the National Police, wearing modern equipment which they have been endowed, as well as the display of helicopters and planes. Then began the ceremony of the exhibition with which Trabuco Ramon Matias Mella gave the “trabucazo” of Independence on February 27, 1844. Faced with the presidential dais paraded military commands of the army and the Dominican Air Force, Navy, the Task Force Quiet City, the Corps Specialized Border Security, the National Police, the Fire Department, among others. One of the most parades was applauded by members of the new Corps Specialized Security Metro (CESMET). The activity ended at 6:30P.M.in the afternoon.

It is worth noting that like every year the youth of various schools of the town of Sosua, paraded with great joy accompanied by the stick choice, as part of a fine tradition of Dominicans. Among the schools and colleges that were paraded Private school Luis Hess, The International School, FAD, Fuente de Luz, Gregorio Luperon, the school Ausberto Luna, among others.
