There is also a large number of iguanas, and exotic birds like the Flemish and the heron. It is believed that this lake is the residue of a canal linking the Bay of Neiba with Golgo of Leogane in HaĆti. His name is in honor of the Indian chieftain who Enriquillo during the XVI century raised up against the Spaniards. The transport to reach the lake can be by public or private transport from Santo Domingo or anywhere in the country.
