First food festival in Samana
Merging current trends in haute cuisine with traditional recipes and ingredients of the cuisine in Samana, the Cluster Tourist of Samana welcomes to the First Gastronomic Festival, this Saturday May 10 at Club cayenne del Mar, Playa Anadel from 12:00 to 5: 00 pm.
The festival aims to disseminate the local cuisine at the national level, and encourage hotels, restaurants and families of the peninsula and the country to include dishes that make up the menu at this culinary festival.
With this, the CTS seek to revitalise tourism in Santa Barbara Samana, revalorised its identity from the kitchen feature and native of that area. The formation of the menu to be tasted is apparent from an investigation conducted by tourism and cultural students with Diploma in Culinary Arts of la Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra(University), with the supervision of chef instructor Ramiro Viera.
This research covers the period before the Spanish conquest until immigration anglophile to Samana, focused on the culinary theme. The production of this menu based on the use of coconut as the main ingredient - is headed by the same students and teachers who were involved in the process of documenting the kitchen of Samana, and it's clearing the recipes of the investigation period and the conversion to innovate formulas that will be included in a cookbook that will flow from the celebration of the festival.
In parallel with the planning and assembly of the festival, the Tourism Cluster Samana gets an intensive training programme with the fate of human resources in the areas of awareness Tourism Management food hygiene, Entrepreneurs and Tourism Management Municipal Tourism culminating with the celebration of the festival.
