Sub-Tropical Storm Olga Sosua, Puerto Plata
Surprisingly for all emergency agencies and even more for Dominicans came a big Christmas surprise, a tropical storm, which in this case for the technical agencies have considered sub-tropical storm named Olga.
The storm was formed on Monday on the Virgin Islands 10 days after the end of the cyclonic season. According to the warning number 3 from the National Hurricane Center Miami, Florida Storm Olga was moving south of this western 24 kilometers per hour, moving in the next 24 hours will continue in the path predicted.
The Dominican authorities issued a report on Red Alert throughout the country especially the North Coast. It is expected that in the next few hours will be strengthened while above storm is approaching the Dominican Republic. In the same order, the Director of the Civil Defence, General Staff Rafael Luna Paulino confirmed that the emergency agencies were reactivated in all areas of Red Alert.
It reiterated a call to all properties that are vulnerable particularly those areas where landslides occur.
